Debating changing plumbing and pump.....
Currently, I have a mag 9.5 feeding dual returns that are than connected to two 3/4 inch seaswirls. I bought the tank used with this setup, and the tank is 120g with a 40g sump. I already redid the drains from a durso to a herbie setup, and am t-ing off some water from my drain to the refuge. The original owner was not running carbon or GFO that I know of.
I am debating changing this setup because I may start running carbon and GFO, but want to run everthing off of one pump for both space reasons and energy reasons. So I am thnking of replacing the mag 9.5 (950GPH) with a Water Blaster 5000 (1350 ish GPH). I would then divert that new added flow to the reaction chambers for the Carbon and GFO. This would also reduce my energy use from 93 w for the mag to 60 for the water blaser. Would that be enough flow to handle that added filtration? Would that be a good setup? I am also trying to decide where the outflow from the reaction chambers would go. Should I stop the drain tee from he overflow to the fuge and put the chambers overflow into the fuge for the fuge flow. Or should I keep the current tee to the fuge and just run the overflows into the return area? Thanks |
