240 Gallons of Filtration

So i am looking at setting up a 240 gallon Fish Only setup. I am wondering what you guys think of how much filtration will roughly cost for a tank that size?

Please let me know thanks

Anyone have any thoughts on how much?

Do people still use Bio Balls if I dont have live rock? Or what is the best to use with out live rock?

Thanks

You can certainly start with dry rock and seed it with a few pieces of live rock... over time the dry rock will become live.

What do you mean by filtration? 240 gallon display would take a big skimmer... you're looking at a lot of money there... if it's fish only, you can get by with fairly cheap lighting... you could use a Rubbermaid 100 gallon tank for a sump, which would be fairly cheap... but at 240 gallons, you're talking some serious money. why are you thinking 240 gallons? Do you have a current tank set up and running?

Im using the sro xp5000ext on my lightly stocked 600g tank. The tank has only had fish since March but Im happy with the skimmer so far. I would call Mike at Reef Specialty... he really knows his skimmers and would be a great help. I would really consider using a closed loop on the tank too.

Seems like the Octupus skimmers are really good. Good call I will give Mike a call.

Do you have photos of your tank?
