Cycling with dry rock?
I'm puttting up a 75 gallon system and have 60 lbs of dry rock. I'll probably use 40lbs. But how long have your tanks cycled from dry rock?? I will seed with 10-20 lbs. Tips for a faster cycle would also be great!

By seed you mean put in 10 or 20 lbs of live rock right? If so, you can let that sit for 3 to 4 weeks. or you can go to your local super market. Get a nice sized table shrimp. toss it in the the tank with everything running until its fully decomposed. Then your cycle should just be about complete.

Okay thanks!! Yes I mean put the liverock in with the dry. Im going to throw in the skimmate from the skimmer from my tank that's running now for a little extra bacteria.

I cycled my tank with 60 lbs of dry rock (pukani and ecorocks from BRS) and I used 2 live rocks to seed. My tank cycled in 18 days. Each tank is different so you might see different results. I didn't add shrimp or food or do water changes. I just let the tank run with the skimmer and had a short light cycle of 5 hours.

I did. Best for the tank. IF you have fish though. i think its not totally necessary. But its better to be safe than sorry
