Skimmer not performing after Chemiclean

Hi guys,

I have a Vertex Alpha 300 that does not seem to be working after recently utilising a Chemiclean treatment.

I followed the Chemiclean treatment extremely carefully and did a water change larger than the required 20%.

Upon turning the skimmer back on the skimmer quickly overflows. The bubbles are much larger than the usual mini bubbles.

My skimmers tuning pipe usually runs nearly fully closed but have had to leave it fully open and also dial down the two red dragon pumps intakes to nearly restricted also just to keep it from overflowing.

Does anyone know what the issue may be?

The skimmer has not been working since the treatment and subsequent water change one week ago.

Thanks in advance.

I tried the chemi-clean and wound up changing about 50 percent of water to get the skimmer to perform better. Stuff works great if you follow directions and change more water, but I dont know if I would use it again.

Took me 4 or 5 20% water changes and lots of carbon after my treatments to get my skimmer working right again.

Chemiclean is great stuff. After treatment and the water change turn your skimmer down (not off) for a couple to a few days. It will start skimming normally after a while. No need to change more water than the directions say.

How long did it run like that?

It took more than one 20% change for me, more like 3 or 4. It also helps to run carbon to remove the left over chemicals. My skimmer was off for about a week just because I couldn't turn it down far enough. Give it a week before you panic
