LED in fuge

Even though i do not like LEDs on my DT, i have heard people had great success with it on their Chaetomorpha. I was looking at a simple LED string with 4 or 5 LEDs on them. I was going to get a 4x4 heatsink and get a constant power driver. I just dont know what bulbs i should get. I heard Chaeto like lower kelvin light.

I'd probably go with Cree XP-G Neutral Whites - should be similar output to midday bulb. Just make sure the driver will power your minimum number of LEDs. 4 LEDs on a good 4x4 heatsink run at 700 mA would probably not even need a fan.

I am using 8 XPG cool whites and it's way overkill. My fuge is 8x20 and I think 4 would have been enough. For coverage sake I'd probably go with 1 watt LED's but use more if I had to do it again.

ok i just calculated the price for my own LED build, and i can buy a ready made fixture for $5 cheaper lol.

This is not a project big enough for DIY to save money.

Why not just a get a 6,700K daylight LED Par bulbs or MR16 bulbs.

These bulbs have much better water splash resistant and easy to install.

PAR lamps are a little too tightly focused but I think popping the optics off would make them work better. My fuge light is built with leftovers from my DIY job so it was really just the price of the LED"s and the driver, bout 50 bucks.

i got a question, cause im considering this again. Can i get the moonlight driver to power my 3 LEDs that i will put, cause my fuge is relevantly small. If i go with the constant current, then i have to get at least 5 LEDs, which is unnecessary.
