How to mount LED's on the Solana?
I picked up the 100w evolution leds from KC yesterday. Love the color. Here's my issue. The housing is 18.75" and the tank is 20" and I want to run this tank rimless. Last night I replaced the wooden upper trim/glass and have rested the leds on this, however, i have the following issues:
1. I want rimless 2. The wood trim and glass make it extremely difficult to place my mce300 on the back. 3. pain in the a$$ to get into the tank. Possible solutions: 1. Leave it and jerry rig the skimmer 2. Drill into the concrete slab above ( scary bc there may be posttensioned cables in the flooring), and hang the light. 3. Some type of wall mounted L bracket hangar. 4. Fabricate som L-shaped brackets that will stretch teh housing from 18.75 to 21". 5. Fabricate a floor stand similar to the pendant stand used on solanas with MH. I'm new to the hobby and would like to get an idea of what works and doesnt work from you guys. Thank you in advance! |

or mount it using the same hardware as the disco ball. attach a pole to the back of the stand. or get feet for the unit.

I also have a Solana and am considering some type of LED light. I plan on getting some sort of tree, either premade or see if I can find someone around here that makes them.
Something akin to this http://www.cadlights.com/images/50%2...n-711%20re.jpg |

Jon - great meeting you btw, do a search for Diy light tree. I did a ton of reading unfortunately I'm not good at building. With that engineering background you should be ok!

amheck. that is really nice. i don't have access to the back of my tank ( without almost emptying it). The stand is on thick carpet, so sliding it won't work either.
