Getting the color back in sps

I have well appointed 120 g mixed reef for over 2 years. I am starting to lose my color in a few of my sps like the purple moni, and established ora chips acro and two of my newer additions. I check my parameters weekly and do the 10% water change every week. I was considering trying the POHS. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!

Do you replace your bulbs (lighting) regularly?

Good point. I started with the 400W 20k Xm's that were run for 6 month. I have since run 14K 400 Watt aquamaxx 6hrs for 8 month. They seem to still produce nice color but my eballast drives them at 450watts. I am considering going back to the old Xm's.

The T5's supplements are relatively new.

Magnesium is a bit high but I don't think will be an issue. The lighting could as well be what's causing your corals to be upset. Pictures would definitely be helpful!

Mag is high but it probably wouldn't cause a bleaching episode. Your tank can also be too clean. Sounds like you don't feed enough. I know it's hard to believe that could cause it but my tank is going through the same thing with the same color/species coral. Started upping my feeding regimen and color in my idaho grape monti is slowly returning. HTH

Hard to beat the colors under 400 watt XM 20k!

biopellets & too clean of tank may be an issue?

what have you nitrate & PO4 readings been? Why the addition of biopellets? Just because or you needed to lower nitrates or PO4??

plus with pellets you want your alk pretty low anyway. so alk is fine.

Could be the case. I have a bit of a pink cheato algae and black slime with air bubble algae issue. I have a scopas and medium chevron who relentlessly peck at the reef. However, I lost my jap swallowtail angel I had for over a year when I was feeding even less.

This may have been a bad thing to do with the biopellet reactor. If I remember correctly, you are supposed to feed more often with it.

As for the lighting I noticed some of my neon green at the center of my tank still looks great. My neon green(looks like noen yellow) ora birdsnest at the lower section of the tank have a subdued color. I find this hard to believe cause 400 watts 14k Aquamaxx should be more than adequate even if it has been burning for more than 8 months. The yellow frags on the bottom of the tank should have been getting 200+ par.
