What's the freshwater version?
Hey this place is just great for information and everything else which got me to thinking about my cichlid tank. So is there a freshwater version of reef central?

Not on this website, there are no freshwater specific forums here, however most of us started in fresh water, so if you have a specific question.....?

I havn't found a freshwater equivilent, if their is one I'd like to know as well. I've simply had to find species/tank specific forums (such as an african cichlid forum) versus anything like RC. This place really does seem to be one of a kind :P

I used to go to cichlidforum.com a long time ago when I kept africans. But I haven't been on that site in several years.

If you ask the question someone here will have the answer. Most started with Fresh water. I had FW for 20 years before converting.

Have you tried Aquaria Central? I don't know how well-informed folks there are or what the enviroment is like, but they seem to cover a wide range of topics. I looked through there quickly when they came up on a google search.

As mentioned before cichlidforum is the place to be, if you are not here.

3reef has a freshwater section but I have never looked at it. I used to use tropicalfishforums.com when I had freshwater tanks, but those people can be pretty nasty. I find the reefers are much more kind to people... well most of the time

Cichlidforum is a great site for FW info. They even have a section ("your tanks") where you can put a pic of your tank for everyone to see.

Wetwebmedia used to have a forum, but that's shut down now. They do answer Qs via email and have a number of articles and FAQs on the site.
Aquaticplantcentral is a small but solid planted tank forum/resource. |

Im going to have to disagree with this. I still enjoy african cichlids... especially breeding certain tanganyikans. My son has a 55g african cichlid tank too. I think its cool to have both FW and SW.
