New Picasso Trigger, how agressive?
I just got a new Picasso trigger- about 3 inches long.
The LFS said it was kind of agressive. He didn't say they eat inverts and crustaceans! He's still getting used to my community of fish, etc. My large Blue tang is giving him a hard time, nothing too agressive to him however. If you have one, will he eat my Royal urchin, my hermits, snails, etc. I may be bringing him back in the morning, lfs said the'y give me credit. Do I need to? Thanks, Todd |

Plan on losing your hermits & snails, and a possibility of losing your urchin. I don't want to even guess how long ago it was when I tried one (( but, it was before Reef Central )), but I do remember losing my crabs and snails to it.

I had a friend that had one some time ago. When it was small it was fine but when it hit about 6 or 7 inches it went nuts. He couldn't get it out fast enough.

Thanks to both the replies above.
After reading about it AFTER I got him home, I had a feeling that that was the case. I didn't plan on getting him, I was going to get a Yellow Tang. He said he would take it back and credit me, so Yellow Tang, and maybe a wrasse. |

Triggers are very inquisitive fish and have lots of personality. I have had success keeping Niger triggers in a reef tank with inverts but nothing is ever guaranteed with a trigger.

Sometimes I find it SO SO SO hard to pass up beautiful fish I see at the LFS because I have not researched them yet to see what I am getting into. I have been getting much better at it though... Is there a 12 step program for this... lol

Caught the trigger (in a net) feeding on flakes at the top today.
mY LFS (not the closest one), took him back 4 days later, no questions asked. (I had called ahead on day 1)- Best Fish, Milwaukee WI. Anyways, got a nice Yelolow tang and a Mag Float 350. The Yellow looks great, parading up and down my 125. Even letting the skunk cleaner shrimp give him a once over - kinda like in the Finding Nemo movie. This Mag float is really nice! Before I was getting my arm in with a pot cleaner spnge, of using an abrasive pad on a small telescoping pole. This new mag float is nice! All is well, and the Picasso huma huma trigger is back at the lfs, before he got bigger and ate my urchin, hermits, etc. Thanks for the heads up. |
