clownfish with big eye
i have had a saddleback clownfish pair for about two months and as i was observing my tank today i noticed that the male's eye was huge. not the eye itself, but the small skin around the eye seemed very inflated. what is this? someone help me. i can quarentine the fish if neccesary.

Could of got physically damaged by hitt a rock or somthing or it could be a water quality issue. Before treating it I would check water parameters and do a couple of water changes.

Epsom salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gals of water) can help with eye swelling/inflammations. Maybe it also helps with around the eye? Give it a shot, it's completely reef safe, so no need to QT.

I actually noticed this on my occ about 1.5 months ago. Out of the blue one day his left eye area was huge... I didn't do a thing, and it has since healed itself and is back to normal...
The particular clown in question is known to get very excited when I feed, and leap out of the water and hit the glass top...... I'm guessing he was just too excited, but all is well now!

about the occ, did it look like it had a tire around it's eye? because tat's what mine hads. when i have time i will try to post a picture of it. the eye itself is regular size. just the tire thing around the eye i am worried about. water params are good. just tested this morning.

yea, pretty much looked like that. The eye itself was fine, but the area around the eye was swollen and huge. He's back to normal now and didn't show any sign of wear and tear through all of this.

Allright. Thanks. Should I add anything into my tank?
