I would want to upgrade my Sol Blues to wireless.. I hate the wires.. But is the power driving the LEDs wireless or is there still going to be wires?

Unless there has been some world changing technology breakthrough, I do not see the wireless streaming power to the leds through the air ; - )

I am assuming the controller will be able to wirelessly control multiple units. And the power to the modules will most likely br ran via piggyback.

There isn't wireless power. If someone created that it would be uber-expensive.

The lights can talk to each other without wires. Kind of like your wireless internet, there are still wires somewhere.

Well thats weak.. so u minimize the number of wires cause you dont have to connect the controller to the units.. but bottom line you still have the power wires lol..

No joke! You would make Bill Gates look like a homeless man.

Did you guys really expect for there to be no power wires? Like, honestly?

The technology exists. Look at the power mats at best buy that you can use to charge your phone/ipod/etc. Not sure if they are at the point where they can move the type of power needed to power the LED drivers though.

I am guessing those mats somehow emit power but I know it is for a VERY short range. I think your devices have to be sitting directly on the mat for it wo even work. That mat still has a power cord attached to it as well.

You would have to create a mounting system that allows power to "run" through it and then have that mounting system connect to the fixture.

We aren't talking about a small amount of power either. I have never looked into how much power it takes to charge a phone but I am going to guess not much.

But maybe we are on to something with a whole new mounting system. I just wouldn't want that mounting system to fail with saltwater in close proximity or even worse, a kid or myself.

No clue. But like I said, the technology is there, just don't know how advanced yet.

Do we know if the mats actually "emit" power through the air or does it work because your device is sitting right on it?

I really don't know the answer to that.

Wireless is for communications, electricity in the air is called LIGHTNING!

Gotta love that google. The reality is that we don't know where the technology is at this point. Who knows what defense contractors and other large tech firms are doing with it. Luckily it is a technology that would be useful in more than just the aquarium industry so it has a hope of being produced.

Google Nichola Tesla he was using the ground and objects to safely conduct electricity back in the late 1800"s and early 1900's. He was unfortunately out played politically by Thomas Edison.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the ability to transfer electric was being done by Tesla 100 years ago. This video talks about it but I had to stop when the guy blows chunks....I'm assuming he goes on to tell you about the fact that Tesla discovers that there is energy in the air already and using the right equipment we can harness it for free. Of course this doesn't go over well with the rich people who own the gas and electric companies and the technology has been suppressed since.

Theoretically, a high power laser could transmit power too.
