Bingo.. brightness and efficiency. A 3w cree puts out more light than a 3w brigelux and those are the two main players in the high output led game for aquatic use.

Not sure on the exact numbers anymore since new stuff keeps coming out.

You start a lot of threads pertaining to a lot of topics that have been discussed extensively here and all over the internet. I commend you for wanting more information but if you did a search or even scanned the first three pages of the forum you know is correct to post your thread in you wouldn't need to ask.

That being said, CREE LEDs are generally considered the best LED out there in terms of Lumens/watt, reliability, and overall spectrum. You must also consider the specific Bin that your CREE LED comes from. There are some older bins of CREE that do not compare to a modern Bridgelux, but modern Bridgelux do not compare to modern bins of CREE.

I like Cree's for the white daylight leds.

For Royal Blue and Blue i prefer the color from Luxeon Rebel's.

It comes down to the fact that with LEDs in particular you can sit and argue the particulars all day..Crees are a very solid LED of choice, if you were picky enough to know the differences then you would not be asking in the first place.
