LOOKING FOR: AquaClear 70 or 110 Filter
Hey all,
I'm trying to get ahold of a used AquaClear 110 Power-Filter or a AC 70 (prefer a 110) to modify into a HOB Refug. If anyone has one laying around and/or willing to sell please PM me. Thanks Last edited by DB9181; 09/14/2011 at 06:04 PM. |

If you can't find a used one, Amazon.com seems to have the best prices for new ones.

Thanks trackfast, I think I found a decent price off of eBay. Lol just didn't want to pay full price for a filter I'm going to modify into a fuge.

I know you were going to use a AC110, but i just saw the price for a new one of those things!
Check this out... you prob have a protein skimmer already for your 29 but a little more extra skimming wouldn't hurt... it's only 90 bucks... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Refugium-Pro...#ht_1728wt_952

Good find! That would be better than a AC fuge imo

Thanks for all the help
Now, Im in a bit of a pickle.... I found an AC 110 on ebay that was ending shortly, and at the time I had no posts here, so I went w/ the item on ebay - got the AC 110 for about $50, another $10 or so in materials and I have my fuge. But that other one w/ skimmer looks good too - Although I already have an AquaicLife Mini-Skimmer 115 running.... hmmm.....decisions....lol |

fuge w/ skimmer looks reaaaaallly temping for $65 (and i believe free shipping) Thoughts vs. doing an AC 110 mod? is there more room in the 110, or about the same? I could just attempt to see the AC110 for about what i got it for/break even... |

So what will you use as light? You will still have to spend more to make it look right with a fuge light. IMO go with the HOB fuge for 20 + 50 or less for light shipped and call it a day : ) Get ready for some pods

ya, honestly that local deal for 20 bucks is great. It does need a small pump though... but thats no big deal. when you come grab that chaeto, i'll give you a little pump that should do fine... of course just make sure you know what gph that pump needs to be, i have a ton laying around from 179gph to 400-ish gph...
Then buy a cheap fuge light off ebay or use the clip on desk lamp with a coralife PC bulb and you'd be golden. or if you're in no rush, buy this cheap fuge light... bet it would work great for just chaeto http://www.ebay.com/itm/13-13W-power...#ht_2501wt_960

What type of light would you recommend.....? I was gonna do it simply (and cheap) and do a clip on light and a 27w CFL (equals 100w) on an opposite cycle to my tank lights.

that would work fine for light. I think what dre was talking about was making it look visually pleasant on the tank. Unless of course you have a canopy, it wouldn't matter.

As far as the light, I minus well go for it, a "clip on" unit is $10-15 from home depot and would look tacky. Plus this tank is in my room, so id like to contain the light given off (somewhat) so that i can sleep lol (vs a clip on/bulb lighting up the corner of my room) |

and ya... that light is surprisingly cheap. i just hope it doesn't poop out on ya too quick. there are also other refugium lights on ebay. take a look around. or if you get discounts at the LFS, look into the coralife t5 mini 11" light. that would work great as well.

The seller stated that the bulb was only used for about two weeks - hopefully it's correct
