Snail? id + clam question
Hey guys, need some help on this. These weird creatures popped up all at once a few weeks ago, they secrete this stringy line thru the water (string extends like 5 inches) and capture floating object in the water column, they then pull in and eat anything they catch...(don't seem to be hurting anything one of them is near a long polyp leather and annoying it however). They are purple and worm tube like, the base curls around itself. Anyone got any idea what these are? verms?
Also, I've had a crocea clam for a year now and it has a sponge growing on its shell, it's been growing on it for ages now but now the sponge is getting HUGE, 3 inches easily, is this ok or should it be removed? I've attached some rather poor iphone pics, any input would be appreciated |

The first one is a vermetid snail. Here's a good article.
http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rs/index.php I wouldn't worry too much about the sponge. It's not going to hurt the clam so you might as well just leave it be. |
