In a sump, straight from the overflow drain. Also use sometimes on the skimmer output to stop any bubbles from making it to the DT.

I was running both on my overflow drain and skimmer, but recently took them all out. Think it was making my tank too clean. I am going to put it back on my skimmer though as bubbles have become a problem.
