Unhappy tank goingto hell!

well it seems that my tank has gone to hell. Everything seems to be dieing and i dont knw what to do. I had bought two fish about 3 weeks ago from the LFS, the tang i had bought after about a week had got ich by time i had relized it, it was to late woke up the next day and it was a goner. Ever since then everything just seems to be getting wrose. The other fish i had got also that day now has ich. I have had a clown fish for about 2.5 months and he and one other fish i had got from a friend seem to be great. The other thing going on with my tank now are red slime, cant get the temp done no matter what i do. Im trying to bring the SG down slowly in the tank to maybe try n kill the ih or anything elas in the tank. I am still newbe and very worried about my tank and fish. i have been trying my hardest to stay out of the tank and let it run its coruse but i am really thinking i need to take major steps before things get worse any help and info on what has worked for other would be great. (please excuse the grammer, spelling, and what ever elas is wrong)

How long has the system been running for? What do you have for filtration and flow? You need to list you water parameters to get a better idea of what's going on. My suggestion is to let the tank go fishless for at least 2.5-3 months to ensure whatever water borne Ick dies off. If you have any other fish in your tank, separate them into a quarantine tank for the time being. Also, what do you have for a clean up crew?

Sorry about the double post, fail on me.

If you let us know the general setup of your tank, as listed/asked above. We can better assist.

None of the tank specs matter now, the fact is your tank has Saltwater Ick, you have 2 choices, setup a seperate hospital tank & medicate the remaing fish, thus leaving your Display Tank fishless for 8-10 weeks or treat display tank & kill all live rock, corals & inverts in your tank, while treating for at least 8-10 weeks. After you figure out what you are going to do, set up a quarantine tank, so that the next new fish you purchase can be isolated & inspected for disease & parasites.

The most benign solution is to get some cleaner shrimp and maintain the same steady ritual that you have been doing.

You may be beyond that though. If your fish are healthy this might work. If they aren't then it's money wasted.

Quarantine. This will eliminate your issues. The red slime is becasue tank is very new and Im gonna bet youve got a very limited test kit, if youve got one at all.

Hate to say this but the fish need to be treated for parasite infection ASAP. The water quality has to be checked and maintained at least twice a day now.

DO NOT BUY MORE FISH, until this is cleared up.

Research ich and its life cycle and how to eradicate it.

Research the tank 'cycle' and understand it and the time required for it, if you have not already.

Good luck, I wish you the best and hope it turns out ok.

Get the fish out and immediately start treatment. Also, get a good test kit and work on the tank while fish in QT.

Good Luck!

Cleaner shrimp do NOTHING for "ich". I wish people would stop giving this advice...
