Skimmer recirculating pump

Has anyone tried to replace a recirculating pump on a skimmer with a Mag pump. Like a Mag 12. I have a MRC MR-2R Recirculating Protein Skimmer with a Blueline 55 for a recirculating pump. I want to place the skimmer in my sump but I'm not sure if the mag would work.

Any help would help

I have a MRC MR3 (not recirc, but w dual becketts) that I ran w a mag 18. Pulled a lot of crap from the tank. Can only imagine what it'd do with the proper pressure rated pump.

If you do decide to give it a try, I'd use 1 1/2" plumbing from the mag to the beckett inlet.

if I ever need to replace my Sedra5000 recir thinking going with a Bubble-Blaster with pinwheel impellar.

Can you get a pinwheel for a Mag18?

I've never seen one but I guess you could do a mod that would make it work.
