Where to buy a 300 gallon aquarium?

Hello all,

I am looking to pick up another tank. I currently have a 125 gallon mixed reef and would like to get a 300 gallon FOWLER going. 96"x24"30".

I would prefer glass but not ruling out acrylic if the price is right. Reef ready would be nice but not required. The cheaper the price the better, not sure I want to jump into a glass cages tank though! My local forums always rave about them but the experiences I read here say stay away!!!

Links and any history you might have with the vendor would be greatly appreciated.

Price range would be around $1500 preferably, but like I said, cheaper is better!

Starphire is nice

If this is in the wrong section, sorry...

Thanks for your help,
Kris

Well I did find a 240 for around 1500
http://www.fishtanksdirect.com/240_G...e_*******.aspx
IMO thats a good price, includes shipping as well!

Doesnt exactly have to be a 300 but it does have to be 96" long by 24" front to back.

Now if I can find a 240 or 300 glass around that price...might be in business.

If you have the time and the patience to wait, you could do like I did. I searched Craigslist and the for sale forums for about a month. Just when I was about to give up and buy new, a great gentleman from one state over was selling his brand new 215G because he wanted to upgrade. Saved me about 1/2 the cost and I could not be happier with the experience. Plus keep building your favorites database on the internet in case you have or want to buy new.

Just talked to a guy with a ad on CL actually. He has a 84"x24"24" oceanic RR with stand, canister filter 4 bulb current lighting (vho maybe?) sump, etc for $800. Not 8ft in length but it just might do!

Check with several stores and get quotes. I got a Marineland 300DD about 2 months ago for $1,180. Granted it's a stock tank, but that's all I wanted. I called 4 different stores and got quotes from $1,180 to over $1,400. So check around.

6 foot tanks are common, and very easy to buy new and used. When it comes to 84" or larger in length, it's usually a custom build. Personally, I wouldn't put much time into craigslist simply because the chances of finding someone local to you that had an 8' tank built will be pretty slim.

See if there are any custom builders in your area, having someone build you one from scratch will ensure you get what you want.

$800 includes the tank, stand, 55 gallon oceanic sump, uv, canister filter (probably wont use) and lighting...not sure on the lights though, you really think $800 is too much?

I have a Oceanic now and its probably over 10 years old and the seams still look perfect. I think Oceanic makes one heck of a tank.

Just googled that tank. WOW - now that is a sweet setup!! I might consider that one.

There are a couple places locally that build tanks but they are acrylic. I am hoping to get a glass aquarium and the only place I can find is glasscages
