Return Pump
I'm looking at two return pumps for my 40G cube.
1. Octopus 2000 - 500GPH 2. Octopus 3000 - 750GPH First problem, I can't seem to find any information on head loss on these pumps. Approx. height to top of tank 4'. Second, the reason for the 3000 would be to split the output. Put a valve on one line and use it for carbon or GFO down the road. My LFS said to go with the 2000 and use a maxi-jet for the other items. Told me I could run into back pressure issues if I try and use the 3000 that way - True/False? Thanks for any help |

First I will say your LFS does not understand how centrifugal pumps work to say you will have a back pressure issue....... With that said, I would go with the larger return pump just so you have less pumps to deal with. Head loss on either pump is not that bad, but I can't remember any details or find the chart I saw once. They are not a high pressure pump, I think it is 10-12 feet max.....
