Snails scratching glass?

Hi all,

I've had my 90 gallon glass reef tank running for 3 years now. I recently bumped up my CUC, which consist of 50 dwarf ceriths, 10 regular ceriths, and 15 nerite snails. The snails have been in the tank for a week now and I have dozen's of fine 3-8 inch scratches on my tank walls. My previous CUC is about 15 nassarius snails, 5 astrea snails and one "Fancy nassarius snail. It was and is my understanding a snails shell isn't hard enough to do this, but I have no other explanation for the abundant scratches in such a short period of time. I DO have a Mag Float that I make sure has no sand caught in it and I haven't used it much in the last week. Can someone please shed some light on this for me? If it is the snails, which would be the most likely culprit?

Do you have any of those little calcerous worms a lot of people have on their glass? I have heard of people scratching their glass with a magfloat and one of those.

I have no tube worms, if that's what your about. Like I said, I haven't been using the Mag Float since I received the new CUC.
