Added a Mandarin, Need pod advice

Hey all,

I just added a very healthy, very fat Mandarin from a well established tank. My 180g tank is 8 to 9 months old, haven't really counted, lightly stocked, and is doing amazingly great. I see pods in the tank, on the rocks, and in my 125g sump. I want to make sure that there are sufficient pods in the tank to keep this guy going, so I thought I would supplement their numbers by ordering some. I like to order from this place as I get stuff next day with standard shipping, but not sure if these are what I want? I'm wanting to just add them to the tank and have them reproduce. Can anyone please advise?

Thanks,

Scott

Don't make the mistake of dumping into your sump like most people do. When you dump the pods into your sump they killed in the return pump, so they are useless. Better off dumping them straight into your Display.

More pods are going to live going through the return than those that die. Just don't have them going through the skimmer or foam blocking them and they're fine in the sump they just get a rollercoaster ride back up and few should die.

Any thoughts on the pods I listed? I know there are different types, and just wanted to be sure that is what I need.

Personally, I would goto reefs2go.com and buy the 1000 pods buy one get one free deal. Way better value for your money. 2000+ pods for less money even lol

Hey Neo,

I just got my tibse pods from live aquaria. Live aquaria actually recommends the tisbe pods and I must say the price was very reasonable. The overnight shiping was only 16 bucks

Yes, they are a good deal. But if the OP has a 180 gallon tank with live rock that has been established for 7 months, he should be good as is.

Well, it cannot hurt to seed your tank. Also if you establish in tank "pod piles" of rock rubble this in effect creates an in tank refugium. But as I said previously, you are good to go.
