Eshopps S-120 Cone Skimmer Sicce PSK200 Pump heat

Quick question... I recently purchased an eshopps S-120 cone skimmer on my 57G Rimless tank. The skimmer works great but I do have question about a heat/temp issue that I seem to notice when i kick the skimmer on.

After turning the skimmer on, I can see a noticable temp increase of 1 - 1.5 degrees in less then an hour.

This is with lights off, and only my mag 9.5 return pump running with the skimmer. No other pumps are running.

If i unplug the skimmer i notice the temp slowly start to drop. Ive tested at different times with lights on, with my other power heads on and only thing that seems to increase/decrease the temp is if i Plug/unplug skimmer.

Im a little confused because I thought these pumps really dont generate heat, especially at the 23w max rating.

Any ideas? I know the Mag 9.5 will generate some heat, but i canget the tank to drop 2 degrees with the skimmer off so i know its not the mag.

The temp with the skimmer running seems to hang around 80.5. With it off it is around 78-79.

Thanks..

i havent, but it might be worth E-mailing them and letting them know.
i dont think my skimmer pumps do this... but i dont have a S120.

they may send you a differrent pump or ask you to do something.
hope that helps
