Plumbing Problem - Advice?

Before I cut this thing out and replace I thought I'd ask here first.

I purchased a used tank that has two threaded return bulkheads - I purchased Lockline and am able to screw the fitting into one of the two returns but not the other. Upon inspection I can see that at some point the threads inside the bulkhead were slightly damaged at the front.

The bulkheads have 90deg elbows with barbed ends glued into them so I would need to cut it off in order to remove and replace.

Is it possible just to sand down the first tread or two in the bulkhead in order to remove the damage or should I just cut it out and replace?

The safest way would be to replace both of them & re-glue. The tank is empty & now is the time to redo it, not after it's full of water & leaking, just my opinion.

Honestly.... I'd just cut it and replace it.

If the threads were not internal it's a pretty easy fix. Trying to clean up the threads on the inside of a bulkhead is just going to p*ss you off though.

Yep. New is better. Better now than try when the tank is full.

I'd cut off and replace bulkhead now while she's empty
