Blue or Purple Carpet Anemones (Haddoni only)

Does anyone have or know of a good supplier for either a "True" Blue or Purple Haddoni Carpet Anemone? I am looking for a small to medium size.

You should post this in the "Anemones & Clownfish" forum if you haven't already.

That is an understatement.

Been keeping S. haddonis for the last 15+ years, have had at least 6 different ones, and they all have eaten at least one fish.

In fact I just sold one because it was sharing a tank with a pretty rare dwarf angel and I get tired of being nervous all the time.

Steve is right. They have a nasty sting that if any of your fish(except clowns), they will more than likely die. Todd, who has been keeping handdonis for 15+ years says that they would probably be best kept in a species only tank with a pair of clowns...

it took me about 8 months to get one from the time I told my LFS guy I wanted one until he got a healthy one in. He got several in in that time but none looked healthy enough for me to want to buy. All the ones I have seen I would classify as medium to large in size. Dont jump on the first one you see, make sure its healthy before you take it home.

I knew the risk of it eating my fish. I have a pair of gold strip maroon clowns and they do a very good job of keeping fish away from it. I know its still a risk but I havent had an issue yet, just about 6 months now I think.

Thanks Everyone! I already have a Green and yellow (Saddle) Haddoni in my reef tank of 3 year and not casualty's. My Black Ocellaris do a pretty good job of keeping everything away from it.

But back to my main question, Does anyone one have any insight on WHERE to find a decent animal in the Blue or Purple Variety?

I have no idea how well they ship, but bluezooaquatics.com has blue handdonis. I don't think they have purple though.

I wouldn't trust an anemone from aquaCON as far as a could throw it -- and after 5 back surgeries I can't throw things very far.

My LFS got some purple nems in. They look like gigantea, but I can't tell for sure. Anyone want to give it at shot?

Terrible reviews and reputation. Should read Aqua con game.
