weird reef noises

In the past 2 weeks I have started hearing a new noise from my reef daily that sounds like a frog croak, a door creeking open, or a dolphin clicking at times

what could this be? I don't think it's a baby dolphin lol so I'm puzzled

You could have a pistol shrimp which hitch-hiked in with your live rock. There might be some risk to your fish or other small invertebrates.
Not sure how you would go about removing it.

Just so you know - unless the tank is at least 75g, the DP (Dolphin Police) will be on you like flies on poop.

And +1 on the pistol shrimp. Look at night using a flashlight with red cellophane taped over the lense. If you find it, it is easy enough to set up a trap.

Where can I get a dolphin. I heard they have a lot of personality. Will he fit in my tank. Its a 14 gallon Biocube. Very stable water parameters. Are they reef safe? Compatible with clowns?

Are you sure the sound is coming from inside the tank and not from the tank itself or the stand?

The "door creek" followed by pops could be something starting to give way. I hope not but thought I would mention just in case.

Possibly a motor or intake? I had an emperor filter where the intake made a horrible grinding noise, I suppose maybe a less horrid version of loud machinery may sound like you described.

Sounds to me like it might be your stand settling. I'd put my level on it again to see if anything is out of whack. Just my two cents.

Ouch, how big was the one that gave way?

I agree it could be a pistola camaron or the wood from the stand warping because of cold weather.
