I have a 10g as well. I would say that it definitely depends on what you are intending to keep in the tank. Any idea of what you're planning on keeping?

That LED kit could be a fun build, but I would definitely opt to add in a couple different color LEDs to broaden the spectrum a bit. On the other hand, T5 fixtures can be a lot of fun, too. Mixing different bulbs in a 4 lamp fixture over a 10 gallon tank can really create some cool effects.

If you go with that T5 fixture, your bulb selection is going to be very limited. AFAIK there aren't many companies that make 18w T5 bulbs.

T5s could be fun. Maybe consider getting a Fishneedit 24" T5 fixture, take out center 2 bulbs and put in some DIY LEDs. I'm considering doing something like that. You know, just for fun
