New Tank Questions

My wife just suprised me with a 72 bow front tank. I'm upgrading from my 14 gallon biocude.

This is what I bought so far and would like to know everybodies opinon before I put in any sand or water.

Sump
Aquon Submersible Pump 3000
Coralife Protein Skimmer 125
Coralife Wavemaker 2600
150 Watt Glass Heater
40# of Live Sand (still in bag) is this enough?

I will buy LED lights after the tank cycles

I have not bought any liverock yet. Going to set up RO/Di set next weekend.

I would say depending on your stocking you would need a bigger/better skimmer. Invest in a second heater for sure in case one should fail. Most likely you will need more sand as well, but regular dry sand will work.

The skimmer I have was rated for 125 gallons and I have a 72 gallon tank. Does the 125 not mean much depending on the load, or are you saying to invest in a better quality skimmer? If so what would you recommend.

The coralife skimmers aren't the best. There are some mods you can do to them that help, but they still wont compare to a higher end skimmer. I know a guy that had one all modded and thought it was great till he hooked up a Swc and saw the difference. Swc, eshopps, AquaC are all good. One rated for more then your tank size would be a good idea.
