SRO 2000 ext question

So i hooked up my Super reef octopus 2000 external last week, maybe 10 days. i have been having issues with keeping the water level consistent, which is why i bought this/ skimmer in the first place! i have it fed by a mag 5 pump with about 20 inches of head pressure to deal with. so the overall gph im thinking is around 400~gph. anyways, the skimmer started working great and i got it all set and running. the water level inside the skimmer keeps rising up and down when the bubble blaster is running, so ive overflowed it a few times (thank god for the overflow -proof design) i do not have a ball valve on the feed line, so im thinking this may be causing me the issue??

a part of me just thinks its still breaking in! i dont know what does everything else think?

may be still breaking, but a few questions where is the skimmer located? A picture that shows the drain would help. Is the drain of the skimmer higher then where it enters the sump?

yes its skimming wet because of the varying water height. blah

the pump for teh intake is in my sump, and the big grey pipe goes over and dumps into the sump

But is the output of the big grey pipe submerged? That can create a toilet bowl flushing effect.

It can also be a problem if the compartment that your supply pump is in doesn't have a constant water level.

Have you tried a different supply pump?

ahhh yes, i need a breather hole in that thing dont i!? that would be the issue!

my feeding chamber is consistent, have not tried a dif supply pump, that one is BRAND new. im really thinking its the toilet flushin issue, i think im going to drill a hole in the top of that 90 elbow and stick a air line in there and seal it up, kinda like the back of the glass holes overflows
