GEO Calcium Reactor Feed

I have a 180 mixed reef with a GEO 618 calcium reactor running. I had it running for just about a year with a Tom's aqualifter used as the feed pump and pre filter. I have had to clean the feed line many times and the pre filte has accumulated air bubbles over time and the maintenance goes on and on. My question is...What feed pump are people here using for the 618? GEO recommends either a Tom's or a maxijet 1200. Let me know what your experience is please.

Thanks in advance

Does the MJ1200 plug up over time? Do you get crud inside the reactor running an MJ without a filter?

Thanks for the quick response.

Could your guys that run the MJ1200 tell me how you plumb the MJ to the reactor? Do you plumb it direct and allow the MJ to pressurize the reactor or do you use a T to allow the pressure to escape into the sump so the reactor is not pressurized?

I don't want to blow my o-ring.

I use a maxijet, I use the air intake extension from the maxijet parts ibetween the pump and the tubing.

this allows excess water pressure to shoot out whats supposed to be air intake, and there is also some that say that it keeps the maxijet from overheating becuase it wouldnt be moving enough water with just the small drip rate of the reactor

Cole-Parmer peristaltic pump.

There is no better way.

This is the pump I use.

Ignore the sticker shock... you don't buy them new (unless your pockets are deep). Check ebay. You want adjustable, good condition, and a masterflex easy load head.
