Question chromis???

I was thinking of buying a couple of Blue Chromis and a royal gramma. I currently have two clowns, a blenny, and a skunk cleaner shrimp. I'm also taking care of my friends Hippo Tang and Yellow Tang. His tank crashed during the last storm. He said he'll be taking them back next month. I have a 75gal and when i'm ready i'll be getting some softies. Do you think i'll have an issues with these two fish? I also wanted to get a peppermint Shrimp so it can take care of some aptasia.

Any advice would be appreciated…
Thanks

I dont see a problem with your plan. The skunk shrimp may go after the peppermint but if there is enough rock you shouldnt have any issues. JMO.

It is anthias and 3 times a day is sufficient for most species.

Thanks guys. Would 3 Chromis be ok? I also read that the Royal Gramma can be agressive, any thoughts? Thanks again.

From all that I have read on the "check your intended purchases" thread three chromis will become one after they kill each other off... This is something that snorvich says constantly....

Would having three chromis in a 30 gal take up most of your
typical bio load?

My initial Chromis purchase was 7. After a few years I am down to 2. I really believe they will take each other out. I do have it with a Royal Gramma but it is also very docile.

We purchased 5 chromis several months ago, one never made it out of the qt, and one "died" a few weeks ago. He was harassed on a regular basis and spent most of his time in a dense birdsnest colony...and then there were three.

Started with 9 chromis in July 2010. One died in transit (shipping), one died within 1 week. The other 7 still alive and no loss since. One is noticeable bigger than the rest. They are fed small feedings several times a day, no feedings on weekends (tank in the office, I am off). Try this trick along with plenty of hiding places in the rocks. Marco rock do have plenty of holes in them. Branchy dead coral skeletons also would be good. They like to retreat when threatened. they tend to return to a specific spot when threatened. Aggressors tend to back off once they reached their safe place.

I really like my Royal Gramma. It took him a LONG time to get comfortable in the tank. In my 180 he would not leave his own claim of about 12 cubic inches of the tank for at least 2 months. Now he ventures all over the tank and seems at home. I have him with a few gobies, 5 yellow tail damsels and two flame angels and he is the king of the tank so far. No aggression at all. The the damsels steer clear of him and he does not cause any trouble. He is a fair bit larger than the damsels and probably is the biggest fish in my tank so far by weight. Very cool fish, and very pretty.

Nick
