Adams 60-30-30 now with radion's
Introduction
Hello people of Reef Central, My name is Adam and I have been in this hobby for just over two and a half years now. In that period of time I started out with an aqua reef 200 (All in one tank) and kept this for about 12 months. I kept many LPS and soft corals in it, most of which I still have today. After about 8 months I started to get board with the small tank and put in an order for a new one. I have had this new tank for about a year and a half now. Very nice! I am a huge fan of the Radion, I am glad to see you are getting sufficient coverage with only two units. Oh, and your Elegance Corals are phenomenal.

thanks,
I do love elegance corals. I will post some close up shots of some of my corals later on in the week. the radions cover the tank flawlessly. I couldn't tell the difference between 2 of the radions or a pair of 250w MH and T5s, plus all the bonuses of having LEDs |

Quick update guys,
As my leather coral would not open anymore, I traded it to an acquaintance of mine for 2 x zoo colony rocks, i never thought i would like zoos but these fire ones and green ones seem to have something about them I like. I will try post some more pic’s in the next 48 hours but this is all I could be bothered with tonight. toxic green elegance purple tang with scallop pink and yellow birds nest frag with long nose hawkfish thanks again guys |

To be honest I did not get a recommendation from Ecotech at all. I just ordered the two, if I had seen a dark patch in the middle of the tank I would have just ordered another one but I have an even spread and I’m happy with the brightness/ colour.

Tank looks good. Does the long nose hawkfish play well?

With that harlequin in there, I'm not sure he has any shrimps
Awesome dimensions... And a great scape... LOVE me a nice harlequin tusk!!! And jus to help, that "green cluster acro", appears to be a green cats paw.. A stylophora I beleive... Again, I may not have looking at the right thing... And I really like the look of only 2 radions on your tank... Pretty sweet job so far...

Great setup! I love the Elegance Corals and the clarity of your tank.
What type of growth have you received with Radions?

Thanks guys,
newbie: My clean up crew includes many small-large snails and hermits. I have never seen the hawks touch anything live. on the other hand when i throw a frozen prawn in the tank the hawks have no problem grabbing one whole and showing it off everyone else... lol ow, and i also have a large blue painted crayfish and a large coral banded shrimp. They also cause me no issues. if you are considering a long nose hawk i would have no problem recommending one to you in the correct environment. pallobi: thanks for your kind words, you are most likely right about the cats paw coral. All i know is i purchased it as a cluster coral off an online propagation supplier... who knows.... dan: I have got good growth from my radions, if you look at the first image of the page you will see a green acro in the top left side of the shot. Today that same acro has tripled in width and doubled in height. Also, the tiger squmosa has gained about a quarter more of its size in the last 4 months... |

Congrats, I think I've found my dream set-up. Seriously, I'm in the market for a new tank and have been reaserching the Radions extensivley Its nice to see that 2 will span the 60 inches. How high of the tank are they? A mated pair of the long nosed, great to hear, I've had them before and they are a great addition to a Reef.
November is my start date of my last build, 60x30x30 Starphire, external over flow, 2 Radions Tank will be Rimless, Eurobrazed, 2 MP60, That's all i know for sure right now. The research continues. Congrats again Jim

thanks Jim,
my radions are 9 inches from the water surface. I can also tell you that TWO mp60wes will be overkill in your tank unless you plan on a bare bottom sps only tank. You could run two but you would ber running them at under 50% each. I think you would be better off with one mp60wes or two mp40wes instead becaue the mp60s will push ALOT of water... but that's just my 0.02c and the best of luck with your build mate |

Just an update on the tank guys,
I had a nice surprise around 3 weeks ago with the growth of some brown algae or diatoms (not quite sure on the ID. I think it is because I stopped using filter cotton and my sump developed a fine layer of sediment on it. I have since put a sicce hp 10 in the back corner of the sump on a timer. I have it run two hours a day during the night and have been doing very regular water changes. This still didn't really fix the problem so I have decided to do a 3 day blackout to try and kick the can on the algae and rip it out via skimming very wet. Any other ideas in getting the outbreak under control? |

good news guys,
the three day blackout got rid of most them all but they started coming back like 10min after the lights were put back on. With the addition of some rowacarbon, daily dosing of red seas 'no3 po4x' and a daily dose of hydrogen peroxide i have now got it under wraps. i hope if i keep up the hydrogen peroxide for about two weeks i wont have to look at the stuff ever again. any questions guys? |
