coral placement
hi!
I have question about coral placement in tank. If I place them close to the water surface( 4-5" bellow) and do the 25% water change, coral will above water surface when draining water. Is this ok or should I remove them everytime for water change? I don't have sump. |

Coral will last quite a while out of the water. Think of all the exposed coral in tide pools out in the ocean. You will be fine having them exposed during the course if a WC.

I would check on the particular coral. I had a gonipora that I killed from being exposed to air. I do water changes from the sump now.

I read an article about a reef that spends half of its time out of water. The tide goes out and it becomes exposed, slimes to protect itself, then the tide comes back in, and the coral is not harmed.
That is probably not all corals that can handle that, but some definitly can.
