Vertex Illumina
I bought a Vertex Illumina 200 series 36inch model for my freshwater aquarium about a month and a half ago. A day after receiving it, I had a nonfunctional module (module 2). It either stays permanently on (when I manually reset it) or permanently off (which is what happens when I have to unplug the unit in order to turn the module off because it does not respond to programming even after the reset). Has anyone else had a nonfunctional module on their Vertex light and how was it eventually solved? Vertex is sending me a new module to install but I have not received it yet. Even though these things are Austrian made, I am actually curious in how many others out there have encountered problems and did I make a bad purchase? Has anyone had Vertex replace a defective unit outright? How do you rate their customer service? So far my plants seem to be alive and growing on just 4 out of 5 modules working. I am disappointed that this expensive toy didn't work properly out-of-the-box. If I had suggestions for Vertex, it would also be for them to have a phone number, and actual manuals that ship with the product.

Not sure if there is a Vertex (USA) established yet, but I know what you mean about convenience in having an entity or representation of the company in the same country... just gives you more peace of mind.
I don't know who you purchased the light from, but I'd go through them first. I bought my fixture from Premium Aquatics and I know Jeremy would have taken care of me if I had a defective unit. So far, no issues.. just some glitches that can be fixed by cutting power to the light... and doesn't reoccur unless I really mess with the programming often.

Of all the fixtures that have been sold yours is the second issue I have heard of. Their track record is so good because every fixture is tested for 100hrs before leaving the factory in Austria, so small issues like this are generally found before they even get shipped out.

I'm glad to hear this, I just hope this new module I am getting shipped will do the trick to fix this thing. I had this thing shipped a very long distance and it is life support for a tank full of plants - so it is impossible to "make a trip to the store and return it". I am hopeful that the new module is the fix, if not, I hope Vertex steps up to the plate and sends me a whole new unit. I am beginning to think that they should be paying me for the hours I am taking out of my life to troubleshoot. |
