aptasia anenomies on live rock - Deal killer?

So a local guy that I trust has live rock and sand for my new tank, the only issue is they have a few aptasia anenomies on them.

Is this a deal killer? I'm buying his powerheads and a few other gear so I can have the rock for a great price..

What are your thoughts for a new guy? He was very open about it and said they haven't spread, etc, but I don't know about them. Will they cause me issues, any way to get rid of them?

Kill them before you add the rock to the tank, it is simple to do before the rock is part of your aquascape, besides that a few aiptasia are a natural part of any reef & in all honesty it gives you a reason to buy true Peppermint Shrimp or any other natural predator, all part of the great mystery of building a reef.

Easiest way to get rid of them is to dry out the rock, which would kill everything on/in it. If you don't mind cycling the tank after you finish turning live rock into dry rock, go for it. There's also a few things that eat aiptasia, chemicals made to kill them, and you could even try burning them off with a lighter if you can find them all. If the price is right, dealing with aiptasia before it gets into your tank isn't that bad.

I'd rather not dry out the rock as then it's not going to be "live"

It has a lot of neat mushrooms, etc on it.....

I'd like to take care of them before I put it in the tank, any suggestions on the best way? I just read a person injected lemon juice into them with a syringe, I have lemon juice and syringes...

I think you'll be fine. Just nip it in the bud and kill what you see. Cover in crazy glue if you need to. Then keep an eye on it and make sure ou got them all. I my personal experience, aptasia is pretty easy to control.

I am a beginner myself and recently had some aiptasia show up in my tank out of nowhere. Aiptasia-X and some peppermint shrimp took care of it no problem. I would get the rock and like Zappo said dry it out if you want.

Are pepermint shrimp reef safe? Any other issues with them?

THIS!! i dont understand all the hysteria regarding aiptasia,, i have found if i let them grow big i use some aiptasia x on them and there gone,, really a very easy pest to deal with
