Jbj ato problems.

I have a jbj ato that has been giving me trouble lately. The problem is it doesnt do anything but sit there. I have a aqualifter pump hooked up to it. None of the sensors do anything when I play with them, no lights turning on/off on the controller.

Do you guys think both sensors are bad or maybe its just time for a new ato. Ive only had this one for little over a year though.

Well I tried cleaning them float switches and that did not do anything. I also tried hold the two of them in the up position and now i notice switch one has a faint glow that reacts with lift the switch up and down. Still nothing from switch two light or pump light.

I recently had two JBJ ATOs go out on me within a couple days of each other. No sparks, explosions or terrible mishaps, just plain died on me. I tried swapping out pumps and float switches with others I had laying around but no luck. I called JBJ and they said there's really no "fixes" for them because they are essentially little more than a silicon circuit board in a housing. Both had been in use over 4 years so might just have been a lifespan issue.

Oh well, I did open it up and saw how it was made inside and pretty much figured out that there is no fix for this problem. Now I need to find smomething that will last longer than a year.

Think i might of lucked out. I actually remembered where I bought the unit from and bulk reef supply keep records of all your orders. I ordered it in April 2011 so it didnt even last a year. So already sent out all the rma paper work for it.

I had a flood on Christmas eve. Mine was only set up for two weeks at the time. I'm still not sure what happened. It is entirely possible the float got stuck in the "on" position. The aqualifter started and according to the manual should have timed out after 3 minutes 45 seconds of continuous operation. That didn't happen and I woke up to a flood.

The ATO pumped 4 gallons of freshwater into my 37g tank. SG dropped to 1.022. Had to do a water change to correct. Unplugged the ATo and changed from mode B to mode A and adjusted the float switch in the sump. tested it through about ten cycles and it seems OK now. Fussy little gizmo. Doesn't instill a lot of confidence.

One more screw up and it's out of there and I'm going to get a tunze or something better. The audio speaker thing has never worked since I turned it on.
