Help NEW 12 gallon reef. lighting and skimmer...

Starting a new 12 gallon reef.
I was wondering how many watts of Metal Halide light should i use for this and what Kelvin and where can i buy them. This will be a reef with coral of all types. Also I will purchase an Aqua C Remora skimmer for this and wondered if I should get the Remora Nano or a bigger one just to skim even more. I dont care about the money I just want to do this right and keep clean water and nice corals.

70w metal halide. The Remora Nano should work fine, you dont want to over-skim, you will remove too many nutrients for your corals to be happy.

10k is more white. 20k is more blue in color.
Corals grow faster under 10k but are usually not as colorful. The opposite is true for 20k bulbs.... the color of the corals stand out more, but the growth is not as fast usually.

A happy medium seems to be the 14k bulbs.

A 10,000k will work fine with that small of a tank. 20,000k would be ideal on a deeper tank. The higher the "k" the deeper that spectrum of light will penetrate.

is the protein skimmer, live sand and live rock enough for filter? or do i need another filter? I plan on having only a few small fish, crabs, snail, maybe a shrimp.
