ATB 8.5, ATB Pro Elegance 200 or BK Mini 200

I hope this post finds Mojo~, as I have seen many of your responses regarding protein skimmers. I have a 210 gallon FOWLR with a high bio-load. Sump space is limited. I would be curious as to your opinion on each of these skimmers, and if they are big enough for my tank? Any help is appreciated!

Don't go with the BK Mini 200. I have had a problem with that model BK skimmer. I have had two of them since June and both have a noise issue which cannot be explained. Jeremy at PA seems to think it is a wedge pipe tolerance that is not milled right. I am waiting for a door tag from Proline to pick up the replacement they sent for the first one. I would go with the Elagence 200 Pro or if you have the sump space the ATB1050A or the Alpha 200. I have had the Alpha 200 and and 1050A and both are excellent skimmers. IMO

I wish I had the space for the Alpha or the 1050A. Both are just slightly too large for my sump. What would make you go with the Elegance 200 over the 8.5? What size tank were you running your Mini on? Without the noise issue, would you have been pleased with it?

I have a 180g with another 25g running in a sump. Probably med bio load but I am going more to SPS (Trial and error) so far so good. I like the 840 but I think it might be to small with a heavy load with that size system. I could be wrong.

For anything over 180g with a heavy bioload, Elegance Pro or 1050a. The elegance is a very nice skimmer and has a couple features like the conical neck and the airstar 1300 is far more powerful than the mini airstar.

Do you think the Elegance Pro 200 loses anything with the pump mounted inside the chamber? It does have a very small footprint, which I like, and I only read good things about ATB.

It won't lose much as it is pretty tall, the pump On my deluxe is external and I think the skimmer. Would work just as well with it inside the body.
