live rock question
ok i am at a point in my interior home remodel that iam ready to move my 75g to a 210g(have tank).
can i do a 10-20 second swashing of live rock in fresh water(dechlorinated, temp/ph adjusted) to remove loose accumulation with out harming the bio of the live rock |

If all you are interested in doing is to “remove loose accumulations,” why not just do it in the current tank while you are removing that rock…….A little shake back and forth before removing that rock. The other option is to set up this separate tank/bucket using salt water instead of fresh.
The one thing I remember from biology is that we use to lyse blood cells using distilled water to collect and map chromosomes. The lysis happened pretty quick. So if there are “animal” cells within the rock, there might be a chance of them bursting as well. Plant cells don’t do this lysis thing because of there cell walls. That’s Biology 101 for you. |

I'd agree that it's not worth killing bacteria if you can use SW to rinse.
