Question Florida fossilized coral

Hi, I am very new to this hobby. I have recently set up a 65 gallon tank with a 20 long sump and refugium. My question is I have some fossilized coral that was dug up here in Florida. Can it be made safe to add to my tank?
I have about 40lbs of live rock in it now and would love to add some of these pieces to it.
Thanks so much!!

I'd soak it in bleach water, rinse in RODI and let it dry out completely before placing in the tank. Can you post a pic of it?

Florida Rock

Hopefully I have done this correctly and uploaded 2 pics of the rock. If I bleach them how much bleach do I use? How long do they have to stay in it?
Thanks so much for the help.

Those pics are way too small to see any detail, but it doesn't look very porous.

I'm a little curious about this as well, as I found some coral skeletons awhile back and put them in my tank already.

Soaked them for 24 hours in a bleach/water mix, then 24 hours in a straight water mix, then rinsed in vinegar then again in RO before putting them in my tank. Same procedure I do for anything going near my reptiles and freshwater tanks.

Coral skeletons are fine.

thanks

Sorry about the lack of detail and my cell phone just died. The rocks are rather light, some have holes through them and some have sea shells and imprints in them. Thanks!

The dry rock that you can buy from places like Marcorocks and BRS is all mined from the ground in Florida, so if it's something like that it should be fine with some good cleaning. If it's heavy and dense I wouldn't want to use it, if it's light and porous, I would use it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't fossilized coral the same thing as aragonite and the most recommended stuff to use in our tanks?
