Buckets to mix saltwater in

Are menards buckets ok to mix saltwater in? It does not say whether they are food grade or not. I am also interested if there is a way to tie my ro di system and the barrel that I hold that water in to another barrel used exclusively for saltwater. I would like for something that I could open a valve and have the ro water go directly into the saltwater barrel.

You could just get another pump. Drop it in the fresh water with a hose into the mixing barrel. When the mixing barrel is full move the pump to the mixing barrel and use it to help mix the salt.

You could put a float switch in the SW barrel so that the FW pumps in until the SW barrel is full.

I've been mixing my saltwater in Home Depot buckets for 9 years now with no issues.

Any bucket made with polyethylene is safe to use for saltwater. I would be shocked if the Menard’s buckets were not made of polyethylene. Just give them a quick wash and rinse and you’re good to go.

I have about a hundred 5g buckets that came from a local window factory (there silicone comes in them). I use them for EVERYTHING around the farm and some are set aside for fish only stuff (prob 20).

theres prob 4 or 5 that are full of silicone still.
