activated charcoal
Hi all,
Just wondering, is activated charcoal always used in the filtration system of a salt water reef tank? Thanks! Steve |

It's not a must but it helps with water clarity.

The first few paragraphs were an eye opener for me. And I know most people use carbon for its ability to take out heavy metals and organic compounds. I have not been a big user of carbon so far. But I have recently changed my mind and will be starting soon.

I thought so, just from my fresh water aquarium days days when I was a kid.
I was told recently that it wasn't "required", but helpful. I made up a bag and added it on top of the biological filter and unless it is my imagination, the water really seems to have much more clarity. Thanks, Steve |
