Marine Color dosing pump

So I'm looking for people that may have or have used the Marine Color dosing pump before? I'm looking at purchasing one from ebay and cannot find any input on these.

Mine just arrived today. Did you get one? Give me a few days to review.

I couldn't find any reviews on this. It looks decent but I'll have to wait and see...I ordered it with the 3 pump add on unit. One thing I like is that is has an internal battery so it can keep time during a power outage.

I have been running mine for about a week. Seems to work fine. Great value. I hope it holds up. I am always cautious with inexpensive products from China.

The interface is fairly simple once you play around with it for a while. I have not used any other types of dosing pumps so I have nothing to compare it to... except price which is about 1/2 of everything else out there.

I have my CA and AK dialed in at 70ml/day with 3 doses per day. I think it divides the 70ml into 3 doses and spreads them out. I am going to add the MG to the 3rd pump at ~5ml/day.

Internal battery? I dont see that in the specs but that would be great. Does anyone know what "pharmed" tubing means? Maybe like medical grade? Would this be better than the tubing on the marine magic?

I am trying to decide between this and the marine magic. Anyone have a detailed review of the marine color? I found this video but I dont speak French: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uRCgY6vyDk

I wish I had a review. Mine has been in the mail for 3 weeks. I guess I should have paid for the faster shipping. Once it's here I plan I doing one but I also have never had a dosser to compare to.

Looks like we will be the guinea pigs. I cant find any review other than a youtube review in French. Gonna pull the trigger this week. Did you order it from ebay or from reefshops?

reefshops...what's funny is that I ordered it from them and then they send you a $20 gift certificate via email. So I went right back on and ordered a tubing holder and their vertical ATS (which I'm also going to be the guinea pig on I guess). So I had two packages coming. On Wednesday one of them arrived and it was the items I ordered second not the dosser.

Gift certificate too thats a pretty good deal. I planned on ordering some extra tubing and a tubing holder. What is a vertical ATS?

I am setting up a group buy with my reefclub. The company gives quantity discounts. If we get enough people we can get them for approx $147 or $137 shipped. Is anyone interested in participating?

PM me your name and paypal ID so I can send with the participant list if we get enough people.

I already have a few people on the list from my local reef club. We can pay separate and ship them to different addresses. $147 shipped for a 3x dosing pump ain't bad at all. C'mon guys who else is interested?

I've contacted Marine Color and this is what they said:

Hello There
Thank you for your email

if the order is more than 20 units
we can do US$100/pcs
if the order is 10-20 pcs

we can do US$110/pcs
if lower 10 pcs
we can do US$120/pcs
for the shipping
if send each pump to different address, the postage is US$27/ each pump

Here is a PM thread that could be of value to someone looking at this in the future. Read from the bottom up...

Re: Marine Color doser
That is great. Exactly what I am looking for. Thanks for all your help much appreciated.

Or is it like the marine magic where you set individual timers for every single dose throughout the day- like marine magic pumps 4ml a minute so the pump is set to pump one minute at midnight one minute at 4am one minute at 8am etc etc until you have 20 ml for the day? Sorry for the long question. Thanks again

I have unplugged the doser and it is still programmed so I guess it has a battery backup.

I recommend it for the price. There is also a bunch of other cheap stuff on the website. You might as well add a few things since you are paying for shipment from Hong Kong. I got a couple of $5 LED moonlights.

Does the marine color have a battery backup to hold the time and programming? Did you have to calibrate the pumps or were they pumping accurate amounts right out of the box? Any help would be much appreciated thanks

Joe

Thanks grasshopper!!!!

Mail came and went today. It's been 28 days since I placed my order and still no pump. The tracking info. says that it's been processed through the ISC but they actually don't update the number until after it's been delivered at your door. To tell the truth the first package I received said it was delivered via their tracking website 3 days after I actually received it. lol

OK well here are the first couple of pictures.

The package was packed great!!!! The box what double wraped in foam and then all tapped up with the yellow tape.

Inside the box everything was neatly packed and also packed in foam chunks and strips.

Despite the well don packaging pump number 3 managed to come loose. I don't think they could have done anything to prevent this and it was only tacked on in a couple spots with glue. Not a problem I put a nice flood of supper glue and pushed the head back on the the main unit facing.

Overall I really like the look of the pump. I had a little issue with getting all the pumps set up as the order in which they have the buttons to me is weird (Up,left, right, down). I kept hitting the left button thinking it was down.

I had a problem setting the calibration of the pumps. I'm not sure what's going on with that. I would cal. for 10ml and programmed a pump to pump once at 10ml. It would always overshoot but like 5 ml. I'm going to play around a little more tomorrow. Right now I just have the actual dosed amount dialed back to compensate for it.

Currently the dosser is hooked up to my FW planted tank and it scheduled tomorrow to dose fertilizers. We shall see how that goes.

That's all I have right now I will upload a few more pics. of it under the stand tomorrow.
