Vortech MP40W - Do i get a 2nd?

So i am in the process of upgrading my 90g. Thus far I have purchase 2 AI Sol blues and an MP40W. I am just waiting on the controller to come in before i actually install them. I plan on having a mixed reef with some SPS and LPS. I have had this tank for 10 years and have had some SPS in the past but never kept it up. This go around, i plan on doing everything correctly to have one bad *** tank.

So my question is, do I suck it up and buy a 2nd MP40W for the left side of the tank, do I buy an MP10W or do I just use 1 or both of my Koralia 3s to point towards the corner with the least amount of flow? I am sure many will say to go buy another MP40 but i have already dropped alot of cash recently and am a bit hesitant. My other thought is that I want the proper set up and i think it would be very cool to have them anti-synced for ultimate flow and 0 dead spots. Does the MP10W even communicate with the MP40W?

I'm sure many of you may say just look for a used one, but i feel that if i am going to spend the money, i would rather have a new one without any potential issues.

Looking forward to everyones thoughts.

My opinion Either use you exisisting Koralia or purchase a MP10, Either way will give you plenty of flow, MP10 will communicate with the MP40 not an issue. and yes it is very cool the anti-sync setup. Guess it will depend on what it is worth...

I just bought a second one and feel like they work so much better as a pair and in fact I was able to turn my original one way down,

I use to always be able to hear it throttling up and down and thought wow it's going to be interesting hearing two of those doing that all day but once I put the second in and synced actually it would be anti-synced them because they are on opposite ends my tank was like a wave pool and worked so much more efficiently together.

I can't comment yet on how much better my corals like two over one yet but I'm sure they do and going from 6 Koralias in the tank to two of those is amazing.

I am also trying to decide what to do for circulation on the opposite side of my tank from my MP40. The MP40 is a nice powerhead but I am not convinced it is worth another $465 (up from $445 a few months ago). See my thread on "Wide Flow Powerheads" in this forum for a number of other good powerheads that cost substantially less (Hydors, Sicce, Tunze) and provide good flow. The MP40 is loaded down with a lot of features I don't expect to use. I would just use your Koralia 3s for a while and then, if you want more or different flow, decide what to do.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a 2nd MP40w. I will post some pics when I have them installed along with the lights. Looking forward to see how the things run in anti synced mode
