Metal halide how high to hang?
Putting a. PFO 250w pendant over my 40 breeder. I was wondering how high should I hang it over the tank. I was thinking 12-16 inches. Any thoughts..?

Same here on my Solana. The lens on my pendant is 8 inches off the water, the bulb is about 12 inches.

I'd go with 12-13" personally. Gives you some room for maintenance and gets the light away from salt spash...

For a tank that size, I'd adjust the height so you have optimal coverage on tank contents....probably somewhere between 8 and 16 inches. Anywhere in this range will provide your coral with plenty of light for growth.
