[b][/b]led lights?
what is the deal with these LED lights, been out of the hobby for a while. starting a new tank, are these the top of the line now or are other lighting systems just as adequate?

Depends on who you talk to, I just went from 2 20k 150watt MH + 2 130watt dual atinic to Led's and so far everything in the tank is happy.. Also the led fixture I have is dimable betwen the the three colors. I can adjust it to color and intenisty I like to see in the tank.

LEDs are the newest thing in lighting and IMHO, they have 2 issues. One is they are still over priced, and second, they haven't proven they can do the job over the long run (how long will they really last and can they grow sps coral after they are 3 or 5 or 10 years old).
I'm sticking with MH until LED prices come down. There are less expensive LED fixtures out there and they are junk IMHO. The really expensive ones seem to be working better, but they just haven't been around that long yet. And if you check the 'For Sale' section here on RC, there are a number of used LED systems for sale? I wonder why?
