Coral Questions

First a little about the tank:

75 Gal
T5 lights 4 bulbs: 2 white 2 blue
pH 8.2
Ammonia .5
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Phosphate 0
SG 1.026
Calcium 500

I feed: Kent chromaplex, zooplex and Phyco pure reef blend

Now my questions:

1. My Ricordea looked like it was going to split but now it looks like this: any ideas

2. My Candy Cane Coral went from a white/blue color to a Brown/blue color (pics below) any idea why?

Before

After

How long has system been set up?

Do you have any fish?

You really don't want any ammonia, since you do I would think your tanks not done cycling.

Tank has been set up for about 3 months but I used 35 Gals of the old tank (when i moved it from VA to OK). So I did not have another big cycle and kill my coral and fish

Yes 2 clown fish, 1 flame hawk, 1 Blue/Green Reef Chromis and 1 Blue Damselfish.

the ammonia goes away in about a day or two the one reason I have it now it because I just did a water change with NON-RO water (tap water treated with alpha for reefs) any other time my ammonia stay between 0 and 0.25 it wont be 0 until I get a RO unit

I agree with prior post - tank is not cycled and you should look into RO water or buy RO water from LFS since your tank is small.

AutoEXE, look into COMAS. A really good organization in the OKC area. Good people with a lot of helpful info. Along with Paul Whitby, pwhitby, a local marine biologist. Very helpful and will help any way he can.

There are few bacteria that reside free floating in the water most are on rock/tank/ equipment of a system.

I agree with super on buying water from LFS until you get your own unit. Its so much more cost effective to have your own RODI.

And JR is correct local reef clubs can be a huge asset, and you're extremely lucky to have someone like Paul Whitby locally.

I plan on buying one after I buy a skimmer most likely with my tax return for now I will only use the LFS RO water to fix the problem
