What heater do you use
Setting up a 125 gal rr tank and a 55 gal sump.
What heater do you use and trust. i have a new apex to control it with, i was thinking 2 smaller heaters instead of one large just for safety. lost a fish to a stuck heater!! Thank You. Steve |

I like my Aqueon pro it has worked good for a while, Ehiem Jager and Fluval are both other good choices, the only one I had problems with was a Finnex titanium digital 150w it stopped working twice and both times I had to mail it back for them to repair it and instead of replacing it they would just fix what ever was wrong with it and mail it back, after the last time it broke I just threw it away....

Are you a cold state or a hot state? I have a Ebo Jager 250 on similar size tank so I would say two 200's minimum.

I use a Fluval. No specific reason, they just seem reliable. I've used other brands in the past without issues. The only ones I've had problems with were a Marineland Stealth Pro (my old Stealth heaters were always great) and a Tetra heater.
The Fluval is accurate and hasn't given me any problems so I'm happy. I got it to replace the Stealth Pro. |

I use a pair of 200W Won brothers titanium in my DT and a 150W Fluval glass heater in my frag tank. No probems with either so far. /crossesfingers

I use a two JBJ True Temp with the digital controllers, I also use my Apex to control it. Here is my reasoning if the temp controler fails in the on state of the heater, then the Apex will shut it down. If the Apex loses signal or goes haywire somehow the heater controller will take over. Just a backup fail safe thing...

I use Ehiem Jagers. The new Fluval fluctuates to much for me.

On my ~170 total volume system, I use 2 200w Finnex titanium heaters controlled by the temp via my Apex. Multiple failsafes. I still like the heaters after 2 years of use. I am in Ohio, where they get more use than down south as well.

Jagers on a ranco controller and backed up by a reef controller.
DO NOT use Marineland.

I currently use an Aqueon pro and love it, actually have 2 of them & both work perfect. I also have Ehiem Jager that I bought first due to all of the positive reviews & i'm sure it works just as good as the Aqueon pro's but I cant stand the method of setting the temperature.

Ehiem Jager on the display tank, Won Brothers for mixing buckets and various other things. Used some other brands and they just did not keep the temp consistent.

I have a 500w JBJ TruTemp Titanium. Kind of wish I had gone with 2x 250w but that's water in the sump now. I went with titanium because I didn't want to risk having a glass one break.
