Okay, I just forgot. Remind me...
I started building a 75 gallon set up over a year ago (first SW tank). I got distracted, and just got back to it. I looked on several forums and found what I thought were the best products and what was the best idea FOR ME at the time, however now I cannot seem to put the "pieces" of the system together again.
Specs: 75 gallon Oceanic Reef ready with single built in overflow. Sump / Refugium 30 gallon divided as pictured. Over flow from the tank enters into the far left through a filter sock. SWC 150 Xtreme BMK Protien Skimmer in that chamber. Three baffles before the center chamber where the return pump (Ehiem 1262) returns water to the tank, and redirects a portion to the last chamber for a DSB with refugium. I need 7-10" for the skimmer to sit in. Other than that everything is simple, correct? I feel stupid asking but it's been a while. Thanks, ideas, opinions, etc. |

9" skimmer baffle should suffice.

uncleof6-
makes sense with the DSB and insufficent flow, thanks. With "macro", you're referring to chaeto alge, correct? |

Or Caulerpa, Gracilaria, Halimeda.... bio diversity makes for a more stable system. Caulerpa, is more beneficial (some species) than Chaetomorpha.

Hopeflully when it comes time I can find either. I'm sure I could order online if need be. So I assume with almost 100 reads by now someone whould have spoken up if there was a problem with the system. My concern was with the segregation of the sump. I intentionally built it for that skimmer, but dry fitting it in there tonight I was concerned that the skimmer is the only thing I can fit in that chamber. I didn't remember if that was correct or not. I guess it must be because I built it that way intentioanlly over a year ago. I must have had some sort of rationale for that.
It will be the chamber that directly receives flow from the overflow in the main tank, so a consistant water level shouldn't be an issue. I've never used a skimmer before. Water is pumped in by the internal pump in the skimmer, and then flows out the pipe from the skimmer itself and will then just flow through the baffles into the midddle chamber, correct? |

Yes to all of the above. On that note, the baffles are a bit too high... you want the sump running around half full.
