might be a silly question but i have a mag 7 in my sump.... how do you guys keep the hose on it? i did not have it held on and it went flying off shooting water everywhere... obviously i cant use a steel hose clamp since it would rust

Quality stainless clamps last a fairly long time in SW. They also sell plastic hose clamps, but I've never tried any. You might try a cable tie. If the hose is really too big for the pump fitting, try wrapping the plastic fitting with aluminum foil tape until the hose is kind of snug and then try the cable tie. The foil tape will hold up just fine in the SW (personal experience).

Plastic hose clamp or zip tie.

i work at firestone and i have access to radiator hose clamps.... but i just didnt think i could put them in there.. Wouldnt the rust cause problems? i could always do the zip tie... we have plenty of those too

quickest and easiest is a zip tie from your local hardware store or Home Depot/Lowe's. Bulk reef supply has plastic clamps that are easier to remove. Don't use a regular steel clamp - it will just rust. And fail when you're not home.

If you want to 'hard plumb' it, you can use a threaded PVC bushing to screw on to the outlet. (I think the Mag 7 is english, some pumps are actually metric so this won't work for them)

ill probably go with the zip tie.... the hard plumbing might be alittle hard to do since my sump is squeezed in as it is

recut the tubing. Boil a pot of water and then soak the end of the tubing for 60 seconds before jamming it onto pump as far as it will go. zip tie before pipe finishes cooling
