is it possible to run the fluval 406 filter using bulkheads? i don't like how the hose goes over the tank. if it is possible, what size bulkhead do i need for a 56 gallon tank 30"x18"x24".

Yes ran 2 of them when I had a fresh setup. Think it was a 1" for the input, diddnt want to restrict it. Had issues with the seals on the canisters after awhile and swaped them out for a sump.

So if I wanted to run the glass-holes.com 1500Gph overflow kit with just one 1.5" bulkhead as drain I would be fine and use the other bulkhead for a return? Or should I just get the 700gph kit?

I wasnt using overflows in the setup. If your plan is as I think, then the overflow box would be where you will see the water level drop from evap. If the level in the overflow is to high you wont get the surface skimming, if its to low your pump will run dry.

I want to keep it as simple as possible. And since it's sealed there would be less chance of leaks. It'll be goin into my room with carpet

So if I go with the drain setup in the pic I posted what size should I get if the fluval 406 filters 383 gph max? So far I've read that.......
1" - 600gph
1.25" - 937gph
1.5" - 1350gph
2" - 2400gph

And what about the return bulkhead size? I was planning on puttin the flexible ball socket tubing kit on it.

Any advice/input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
